Kent Employment Solutions is thrilled to exclusively partner with our client Umpqua Bank to place their new Director of Talent Acquisition. The role offers a rare and unique opportunity for a TA leader to move into the leadership position at an exciting time to influence and shape the function.

Umpqua and Columbia Bank are combining to create the West Coast’s leading regional bank to serve their customers and communities better. This will result in the third-largest regional bank on the West Coast, with operations in Oregon, Washington, California, Nevada, and Idaho.

We seek your expertise in Talent Acquisition to integrate and lead both teams and over 300 locations. We need a strong manager adept at analyzing and leveraging data to make business decisions and lead, inspire and transform the Talent Acquisition function while delivering an extraordinary candidate experience.

In this position, you will serve as a strategic partner to enterprise HR on talent strategy, prioritization, and workforce planning and translate plans into actionable sourcing and employment marketing strategies.

Serve as a thought-leader & subject matter expert on Hiring Selection Strategies and related processes and practices (e.g., structured Behavioral Interviewing and hiring calibration, etc.)

Collaboratively advise HR partners and LOB in resolving TA obstacles and issues (e.g., handling emergent “hot jobs” needs, specific geographic issues as they emerge, etc.)

Partner with Diversity Equity and Inclusion – shape and deliver TA solutions that grow engagement with and hiring of people from underrepresented parts of our community. Your strategy and actions over time will grow the available pool of top talent who see Umpqua as an employer of choice.

Partner with Marketing & Communications on Employment Branding and Employee Value Proposition concepts to ensure alignment of strategies, tools, and priorities, including defining attraction campaigns and execute sourcing strategy focused on passive talent.

Specify, measure, and analyze all TA performance metrics, including KPIs and SLAs, to monitor team effectiveness and deliver results.

Develop the team and implement efforts to improve TA processes and services continuously

What Background fits best?

Experience managing and influencing teams w/ solid project management skills

Deep knowledge of recruitment, sourcing, selection concepts

A track record of results in leading a large organization’s Talent Acquisition team, including the design and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the TA function.

Strong understanding of diversity hiring, with a demonstrated track record of implementing TA initiatives

Excellent written and verbal communications skills, including expert listening, presentation, group facilitation, influencing, and negotiations, particularly with executive-level leaders

Strong analytical and quantitative skills. Ability to synthesize complex sets of financial and business metrics, recognize potential downstream implications to talent strategy, and make proactive recommendations to transform the business

Strong executive presence and credibility coupled with excellent influencing, communication, organizational, negotiation, and presentation skills, including the ability to influence senior management effectively

Knowledge of U.S. employment law practices, SME on TA practices, and legal requirements

Demonstrated success in a high pressure, dynamic, fast-paced environment
