Reporting to the CFO the Senior Accountant is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of accounting information. Ensuring that relevant financial information is accurately reflected in the financial statements. In this position you will own all day to day accounting activities.
Responsible for preparing monthly journal entries and financial statements together with budget variances.
Maintains accounting records (general ledgers, general journals)
Assists Chief Financial Officer with preparation of federal excise tax returns, including related schedules.
Assists Chief Financial Officer with annual financial review, including preparation of schedules.
Assists with preparation of annual administrative budget, and prepares quarterly budget vs. actual analysis for review by Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer.
Responsible for Limited Liquidity accounting and analyses, including the tracking of calls, distributions, valuations and other related activities.
Responsible for communication to custodian bank and recording of limited liquidity cash flows.
Responsible for accounts payable and preparation of 1099’s.
Responsible for Trust expense and travel reimbursement program, including auditing expense reports for accuracy and completeness
Maintains Trust computer, furniture, and fixtures inventory.
Prepares personal property tax report and quarterly use tax.
Reconciles monthly bank statements.
Prepares and monitors various class actions filings
Provides consultation with constituents as needed to provide information necessary for grant processes.
Provides support to the Chief Financial Officer and Trust leadership team as needed for program planning and development.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
• A baccalaureate degree in accounting or related field
• 5 years of experience in accounting
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Ability to communicate with non-accounting professional staff
• Thorough knowledge of Excel and database systems
• CPA a plus
