The Staff Accountant provides financial and administrative support to the organization. This position is responsible for general ledger data entry and adjusting journal entries, account analysis and reconciliation, and other regular closing procedures. Systems frequently used include Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains, Microsoft Excel, and PowerCampus.
Completes Reconciliation of cash, investments, and balance sheet accounts
Integration of subsidiary systems into accounting software
Reconciliation of subsidiary systems
Preparation of journal entries and bank reconciliations for month close
Assistance with the recording of contribution revenue and tracking of restricted expense
Management of Deferred Revenue and preparation of related journal entries
Review and entry of staff credit card activity into accounting software
Allocation and entry of payroll data into accounting software
Maintenance of COA and financial reporting templates
Assist other Business Office and Student Accounts staff as needed with reconciliation and accounting issues
5 or more years progressively responsible general ledger accounting experience
Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains experience-open to experience with other ERP’s
Strong understanding of accounting principles
Ability to meet deadlines and work accurately under pressure
Highly detailed and organized, excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer service focus
Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite of products, particularly Excel
Proactive, independent, and able to problem-solve creatively
Experience working in a higher education environment or PowerCampus experience a huge plus
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively as a member of a team and work collaboratively with other departments
